My name is Maxwell Trombley, and I am a graduate of Western Michigan University and a
current Doctoral Candidate at the University of Cincinnati. I am inviting you to participate in a
study on early career music teachers and experienced teachers who have mentored student
teachers.

You are eligible to participate if you are:

• An early-career music teacher (from your student teaching semester through your 5th year in your own classroom), or
• An experienced teacher who has mentored a student teacher in the past 5 years.

You will be asked about the challenges faced in the transition from student to teacher, areas you
felt least prepared for, and possible supports for new educators. The survey will take
approximately 15 minutes to complete.
