    • Instrumental Music Education from Hope College ’23 Master’s of Music Education from Michigan State University ’27
  • What other organizations are you a member of?
    • I am the rehearsal manager for the Holland Area Youth Orchestra
  • What has been one of your most enjoyable moments about teaching? 
    • I have enjoyed seeing students shape and morph into their true selves from ages 5 to 11. Children grow into their own by age 11, and it is so fun to see the journey to their realized selves.
  • Something in your teaching career you’re proud of: 
    • My school did not have a music program before I was hired on. I have had the privilege of shaping the program from top to bottom, which has been rewarding and stretching in the best of ways.
  • What do you want music education to look like in 20 years? 
    • I dream of a music education for all students where the teacher and students are co-creators of musicking. I dream of students and teachers finding joy in the process of making music, and we strive to experiment and play with improvisation, creation, arrangements, and performances.
