- NAFME/MMEA member
- Where do you teach?
- Traverse City, Michigan
- Total career number of years teaching:
- 7 years
- Colleges or institutions and which degrees/certificates have you received:
- Bachelor of Music Education from Central Michigan University
- What other organizations are you a member of?
- FAME
- Why is being a member of MMEA important to you?
- Being a music teacher can be so lonely- MMEA is a great way to connect and learn with other educators in our state. We are working hard to provide more resources to teachers in all areas of the state- which is why I became the Region B rep.
- What made you go into teaching?
- My mom is a teacher, and I always wanted to be one. I settled on elementary music after pre-student teaching with Zach Vandergraaf when he was teaching in Mount Pleasant. I really loved his First Steps in Music lessons with his Junior Kindergarteners!
- What is something in your teaching career you are proud of?
- I started a Family Folk Dance night at my school and each year it gets a little bigger. I love getting families involved in music making with their students!
