Overview

The Michigan Collegiate Spring Conference is a professional development and networking event that will welcome college students from around the state to the University of Michigan. Attendees will have access to sessions and workshops designed for pre-service teachers, performances by U-M students, informational booths, and opportunities to connect with their collegiate community. The conference will feature a range of session topics intended for pre-service teachers with presenters representing institutions from around the state. Attendees have the option to take part in a social event the night before the sessions begin (3/14) and will have the option to stay the night with a U-M Music Education student should they choose to. The theme of this year’s collegiate conference is: Teaching to Today and Tomorrow

10:00 am – Coffee, chamber music, and conversation in Hankinson Hall
10:15 am – Session #2 (Mr. Wallace and Ms. Nietupski) in Watkins Hall
11:00 pm – Coffee, chamber music, and conversation in Hankinson Hall
11:15 am – Session #3 (Dr. Stanley) in Watkins Hall

12:00 pm – Luncheon hosted by MMEA

Friday Night Social Activity

We will be hosting a social event on the evening before the conference (Friday, March 14th). This will likely be a trip to the Blue Llama Jazz Club in downtown Ann Arbor. If you are at all interested, let us know when you register and we will send you more details as we get closer to the event. We are able to offer attendees a place to stay the night with a U-M Music Education major.

Conducting Worksop

Five participants will have the opportunity to conduct members of the University of Michigan bands in a masterclass-style session with clinician Professor Jason Fettig. If you are interested in conducting as a part of this workshop, please fill out this form. Participants will be accepted on a first come/first serve basis until spots are filled. Only one student per college/university will be accepted into this workshop. In other words, the first person from each unique college/university to register will get a spot.
