The University of Detroit Jesuit High School and Academy is looking for a pianist to accompany the choirs on concerts, masses, and rehearsals for the 2019-2020 school year. The salary for this position is a $5000.00 stipend that will be disbursed in payments of $2500.00, at the end of each semester. A regular rehearsal schedule will be mutually agreed upon for an average of two one-hour rehearsals per week between the hours of 10-4pm, most often occurring during the scheduled Varsity Singers course at 1pm. The performance schedule is non negotiable and the pianist is responsible for securing a vetted substitute pianist, paying this individual for any performances that they are unable to attend, and notifying the choir director in advance of any absences. If any changes are made to the performance schedule, the pianist will be notified in advance and scheduling will be mutually agreed upon. The pianist is responsible for preparing for and participating in rehearsals, supporting the choir director in rehearsals, masses, and performances, and interacting with students and community members in a positive and professional manner. Qualifications: The pianist must demonstrate proficiency in piano, including sight-reading and playing prepared selections in a range of musical styles and difficulty. They must be able to play four-part choral music for rehearsals.
