Dollar Bay-Tamarack City Area Schools is seeking a full-time K-12 music teacher or two half-time teachers (one K-6 general music/beginning band teacher, one 7-12 junior/senior high band teacher).


  • Effectively manage student behavior, ensuring students are actively engaged in learning and keeping classroom climate positive
  • Employ Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBiS) practices in classroom management
  • Elem: Teach two engaging 36-minute K-3 general music classes per day
  • Elem: Teach two 36-minute 4th-6th grade recorder/music or beginning band classes per day, establishing a foundation of technique, reading, enjoyment, and all essentials
  • HS: Teach/Direct 7th Grade Band 76 minutes per day
  • HS: Teach/Direct High School Band 76 minutes per day
  • HS: Select appropriate music for ensembles and individuals and ensure music library is organized and maintained
  • HS: Recruit students for band program
  • HS: Organize and manage fundraisers throughout school year and responsibly manage budget
  • HS: Lead the Pep Band/Marching Band at basketball games and summer parades


Valid Michigan Music Teaching Certificate strongly preferred; or, if lacking a valid teaching certificate, 60 satisfactory college credits in an accredited university music program and intention to become certified within four years Strong knowledge/ability in the area of music/band Interest and confidence in working with students of all ages (K-12)
