Hope College invites applications for the Director of Choral Activities, a tenure-track position in the Department of Music, to begin in August 2020. Rank is open. The candidate is expected to build on a flourishing choral program, including directing the Chapel Choir and College Chorus.  Depending on scholarly areas and expertise, participation in other music department area programs may also be appropriate (e.g., gospel choir, vocal jazz, applied voice, aural skills, early music, musicology, etc.). The department is equipped with a premier new music facility (the Jack H. Miller Center for Musical Arts). 

The department embraces the liberal arts ethos while providing academically excellent professional music programs. The department places a high value on diverse perspectives, experiences, and backgrounds.


DMA or PhD (ABD may also be considered). Demonstrated ability and promise as an active musician, conductor and teacher. Potential to lead a thriving choral program involving undergraduate students in a liberal arts setting.
