The Department of Music at Saginaw Valley State University is accepting applications for a full-time, one-year temporary position for Theory/Jazz to begin July 1, 2020. Candidates to be considered must have the demonstrated ability and experience to teach effectively in the classroom and successfully direct rehearsals. The assignment may include courses such as theory, aural skills, jazz band, and/or jazz combo(s). All full-time faculty members are required to teach 24 credits per academic year and engage in scholarship and/or creative activities and university service. 


Minimum Qualifications: Doctorate in Music or related field required Experience directing a jazz big band Evidence of teaching effectiveness in music theory An established scholarly research or creative activities agenda Preferred Qualifications: Prior theory teaching experience at the collegiate level Preference will be given to candidates with improvisation teaching experience and recruitment experience Experience teaching courses online
