The Department of Music in the School of Music, Theatre and Dance at Oakland University invites applicants for a Visiting Assistant Professor of Music—Music Education position beginning August 15, 2018.

Responsibilities: teach undergraduate and graduate Choral Methods, teach Introduction to Music Education, teach undergraduate and graduate course in music education for learners with exceptionalities, supervise student teachers, mentor music education students in field placements prior to student teaching, mentor graduate students in music education (practicum and research), and engage in scholarly/creative activity and service in the department and university. College level teaching experience preferred.

We are looking for candidates who have an understanding of and commitment to a constructivist vision of music education, demonstrated success teaching in K-12 education with experience directing choral ensembles, demonstrated college-level mentoring of pre-service music teachers and/or student teacher supervision, expertise in music therapy and/or music special education, an understanding of working within a collaborative environment, demonstrated ability to assist with graduate level research advising.
