January Happenings at MMEA

Don’t forget about these things going on right now at MMEA!
1. Bylaw Revisions: Members, when you have a minute, please visit
http://mmeamichigan.org/bylaw-revisions/ and review the included documents. Active MMEA members will vote on these proposed bylaw changes at the MMEA coffee hour, held on Saturday, 01/27 at the Michigan Music Conference.
2. Michigan Music Conference: If you haven’t done so already, please take a moment and register for this year’s MMC. You can visit www.michiganmusicconference.org for complete details and registration information. It’s going to be a fabulous conference, featuring an Orff Pre-Conference with Doug Goodkin, MLT expert Beth Bolton as this year’s headliner, and so much more. For details about Collegiate events, please click here. Don’t forget to RSVP for the free MMEA coffee hour too.
3. Advocacy/Policy: We’re working hard on statewide ESSA implantation (and its direct relationship to MI’s “Top 10 in 10” initiative), statewide certification changes, MI elementary music legislation, and federal Title I, II, and IV speeding proposals. It’s been a busy few months related to these topics, and the new year will bring continued conversations. MMEA and NAfME are on the front lines, and we’ll continue to bring you up-to-date information on these and many more issues. Please stay tuned!
